God is ABLE {Living on the Rock}

I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is ABLE to guard until that Day what has been entrusted to Him.  (2 Timothy 1:12)

He is ABLE to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think. (Ephesians 3:20)

He is ABLE to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:8)

He is ABLE to help those who are being tempted. (Hebrews 2:18)

He is ABLE to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. (Hebrews 7:25)

He is ABLE to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy. (Jude 24)

Who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enABLEs him even to subject all things to himself. (Philippians 3:21)

“Do you believe that I am ABLE to do this?”… “Yes, Lord.” “According to your faith be it done to you.” (Matthew 9:28-29)

We know God’s promises. We know how He has revealed Himself through Jesus Christ. We sing songs about our Great God, and how He loves us.

Our God is ABLE.

And yet how often are our lives characterized not by confidence in His ability, but by…

Worry.  Fear.  Insecurity.  Control.   Anxiety,  Anger.  Discouragement.  Doubt.  Why?

We know Him, but we don’t believe Him.

Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king… (Matthew 2:1)

Matthew chapter 2 introduces Herod the King. This Jewish Messiah King is born  into a land with a sitting King. And while Jesus was born in the royal line of David, Herod wasn’t even a true Israelite – he is a pretender to the throne.

What happens when God’s authority, God’s right to rule comes into a place where there’s a sitting ruler, a pretender to the throne? Read more
